Gis Intern Jobs

The City of Saratoga Springs Public Works Department currently has an opening for a GIS Intern. This position is under the specific supervision of the Assistant Public Works Director and/or the GIS Administrator. This 20 hour a week position performs skilled work pertaining to GIS and GPS data collection as it relates to public infrastructure. Job Responsibilities
~ Collect GPS data of existing and new infrastructure , including attributes (e.g. diameter of pipe, type of pipe, type of valve, size of valve, and joint type, etc.) and photos where applicable; infrastructure types include culinary & secondary water, sanitary sewer, storm drain, parks, and street lighting
~ Edit and create GIS based data using ArcGIS Desktop.
~ Coordinate with City Departments and development contractors to ensure data collection is completed for each project
~ Operates light vehicles such as pickups
~ Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
~ Position is for applicant"s over 18 years of age.
~ Graduation from high school, or GED preferred.
~ Previous experience in related fields and able to demonstrate aptitude or ability to be trained and perform above or related duties is preferred.
~ Preference may be might be given to candidates with an associate"s degree in pre-engineering, geography, surveying or equivalent.
Certifications Required:
~ A valid Utah Driver"s License Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -
~ Demonstrate the ability to follow City policies and procedures
~ Knowledge of the principles and practices of GPS data collection principals and ESRI desktop software
~ Ability to maintain records and task lists
~ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others (i.e. employees, volunteers, and the general public)
~ Ability to understand and follow oral instructions Working Conditions

Salary: $15.00 per hour
