Overview:

Houston Auto Auction, in partnership with EBlock, is looking for a General Manager. HAA has been providing exceptional customer service since 1964; building long-term partnerships in a family atmosphere where respect, compassion, trust, and perseverance unite employees and customers toward achieving success for all. EBlock is a rapidly growing technology company with digital auctions through the US and Canada. By connecting physical auctions and digital auctions, EBlock is creating a network of logistics hubs that will improve our ability to serve our customers and give them the flexibility to do business where and how they prefer.


The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our auto auction operations. You will lead a team of dedicated professionals, manage daily operations, and ensure the efficient and profitable running of our auction facility. This is a critical leadership role that requires exceptional organizational and communication skills, strategic thinking, and a passion for the automotive industry.


What You Will Do:

  • Implement and maintain effective inventory management practices.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve sales and earnings targets, increase market share and maximize profitability in coordination with the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Develop a highly efficient, customer service-oriented team through ongoing communication, skills training, all while fostering a positive work culture.
  • Foster a positive, customer-focused, strong morale, high performance team.
  • Building and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including buyers, sellers, commercial accounts, and industry partners to expand the auction’s customer base and drive business growth.
  • Support end-to-end solutions for all customers in physical auction lanes and on digital formats.
  • Manage and optimize the auction process, ensuring efficient operations from vehicle intake to sale settlement.
  • Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
  • Facilitate customer complaint resolution in a courteous, cordial manner.
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to the auction team, including sales, administrative and auction operation employees.
  • Review and understanding of monthly financial statements, managing revenue, controllable expenses, and profitability.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities and be adaptive.
  • Identify areas of improvement and implement process enhancements.
  • Oversee company Safety policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory agencies related to vehicle auctions and local licensing.

What You Will Need:

  • Proficiency in using auction management software, CRM systems, and other related tools.
  • Excel in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse group of employees.
  • Solid understanding of financial management principles, budgeting and revenue generation.
  • Detail oriented, forward thinking, sales and customer centric focused.
  • In-depth knowledge of physical car auction processes, market dynamics and industry trends.
  • Bi-lingual preferred, Spanish and English.
  • Proven experience (5+) years automotive auction experience including automotive operations, auction management, or a related field.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire.
