Location: Black Wolf Harley-Davidson – Bristol, VA


Black Wolf Harley-Davidson, located in Bristol, Virginia, is looking for a General Manager committed to inspiring team members, helping our customers succeed and growing our business with integrity. This opportunity is a professional level administration and management position. The role oversees and manages the operation of the dealership. Responsible for maximizing return on investment, profit and loss, daily operation, planning, development, and implementation of marketing plans for both short-term and long-term growth. Has direct responsibility for managing and controlling company assets, as well as managing and developing employees for future growth. Responsibilities


  • Provides direction and coordination for all areas of dealership operation.
  • In collaboration with the Dealer Principal, makes recommendations/changes to the operating plan and related budgets.
  • Establishes and communicates operating policies and procedures for dealership.
  • Maintains records, controls and requests reports from subordinates to evaluate dealership performance.
  • Approves all major departmental expenditures.
  • Holds department managers accountable for established monthly and annual objectives and financial goals.
  • Ensures departments maintain budgeted revenue and expense objectives.
  • Balances the demands of employees, suppliers, customers, owners, and community.


Essential Job Skills Necessary for Success as a General Manager:


  • Coaches, counsels and evaluates direct reports.
  • Manages recruitment, interviewing, hiring and termination of staff.
  • Conducts performance reviews on a regular basis for direct reports.
  • Sets policies, procedures and processes for dealership.
  • Sets and/or approves compensation plans for dealership employees.


Experience That Sets a General Manager Up For Success


  • Demonstrated ability to hire, manage, and retain quality employees.
  • Manages conflicts between departments and individuals within the dealership.
  • Holds management accountable for leading their people.
  • Preferred knowledge and experience with sales of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and other products sold by the dealership.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage all financial and management aspects of a million dollar business.
  • Provides appropriate training for management team to have the skills to do their job. (seminars, sales training, technical training, etc.)
  • Seven years or more of progressive management experience.
  • Delegates responsibility to managers as needed.


Education


  • Motorcycle endorsement required
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license
