A Republican Senator is seeking an experienced General Counsel to handle a portfolio covering issues related to the Judiciary Committee, oversight of Federal agencies, and legislative drafting. The General Counsel will be the primary staffer responsible for managing the recommendation process for federal judicial nominations for the Senator. The General Counsel will be the in-house advisor on the office’s compliance with Senate Ethics rules. This position reports to the Legislative Director and will involve significant work directly with the Senator. Ideal candidates possess at least five years of relevant legal experience, excellent writing skills, and sound political instincts—prior experience working on Capitol Hill or in the Executive or Judicial Branch. A J.D. and membership in the bar of a federal court or the highest court of a State are required.
