Summary
The Lead Engineer works within the Gen IV Advanced Design & Development group of the GE Hitachi Engineering organization. The AD&D team supports the development of advanced nuclear applications through technical leadership on early phase projects and delivering high caliber analysis of complex, first-of-a-kind technologies. AD&D is an interdisciplinary group of problem-solvers with high aptitude and flexibility. The Lead Engineer is a self-starting professional that can operate with minimal supervision and possesses mastery of a discipline relevant to developing fluid or mechanical systems for nuclear reactors.

AD&D is an interdisciplinary group of problem-solvers with high aptitude and flexibility. The Lead Engineer is a self-starting professional that can operate with minimal supervision and possesses mastery of a discipline relevant to developing fluid or mechanical systems for nuclear reactors.
- Acts as the responsible systems engineer for first-of-a-kind designs.
- Devises innovative solutions and performs confirmatory analyses to support business initiatives and develop new products.
- Delegates work to support teams and early-career engineers and serves as a near-peer mentor as required to develop and maintain technical talent.
- Intentionally works to build subject matter expertise, applies technical rigor, and maintains a questioning attitude.
- Generates design and/or testing requirements and creates high quality technical reports and diagrams for review by both customers and regulators.
- Executes the design process, applies engineering principles, and works with multiple disciplines to produce designs in compliance with all specifications, procedures, and regulations.
- Performs system design activities including system design specifications, piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), logic diagrams, process flow calculations and diagrams, equipment sizing, FMEA evaluations, and calculations relevant to mechanical or fluid system design.
- Bachelor of science degree in mechanical, systems, or nuclear engineering, or closely related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in a technical role
- Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals related to failure modes, stress analysis, etc.
- Strong grasp of fluid mechanics and thermal physics
- Systems engineering experience in a highly regulated field such as the nuclear industry or medical devices.
- Experience with system modeling (risk, reliability, performance, etc)
- MS Engineering degree
- Extensive expertise in a relevant technical discipline
- Demonstrated ability to complete work on-time and function in an interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Adept in applicable CAD software or ability to learn quickly.
