Job Summary
The Talent Search Project Coordinator will be responsible for conducting services for first generation, low-income students in Grady County. The Talent Search Project Coordinator will collaboratively develop strategies with secondary and post-secondary leadership to increase high school graduation and post-secondary entrance rates of program participants. This position is part of the United States Department of Education's Talent Search Grant Program.
MAJOR DUTIES
  • Maintains confidential participant data including program eligibility, academic performance, services received, financial aid eligibility, and postsecondary enrollment;
  • Provides the day-to-day operation to effectively achieve the project goals and objectives as approved by the US Department of Education Talent Search Program;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinates, designs, delivers, and oversees afterschool and summer programming for program participants and their families;
  • Participates in assessment, planning, budgeting, and staff development;
  • Assist in the identification, selection, and assessment of participants;
  • Coordinates, designs, and attends program supported college tours, field trips, and cultural enrichment trips for program participants;
  • Collaborates with SRTC, Grady County School System, community agencies, organizations, and post-secondary institutions to implement innovative services for participant’s success;
  • Participates in opportunities to increase and share knowledge about the US Department of Education Talent Search program and the impact on improving access and success for program participants;
  • Coordinates with appropriate personnel for placement testing and registration of participants in dual enrollment programs;
  • Coordinates and/or provides guidance, advice, and supportive services to program participants;
  • Informs the community of the US Department of Education Talent Search program purpose and services available;
  • Gathers, tracks, reports, and uses data analysis to ensure program and participant success;

  • Highly skilled in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public including school administration, community organizations, students, and families;
  • Willingness to work irregular hours including nights and weekends;
  • Skilled in the operation of computers, job-related software programs, and social media platforms;
  • High level decision making and problem solving skills;
  • Knowledge of high school graduation requirements, college admission and financial aid guidelines and procedures;
  • Commitment to the US Department of Education Talent Search mission.

JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree and Two (2) years of work experience in a secondary or post-secondary education environment
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the minimum qualifications:
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish), TriO program alumni, and/or teaching certificate highly desired
  • Three Years of experience working with TRiO, similar programs, or low-income first generation populations
  • Familiar with the US Department of Education documentation and reporting requirements and practices
  • Experience in curriculum design, program development, and implementation
  • Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field.
  • Experience in administering, scoring, and interpreting academic and career assessment inventories
