About The Team

Are you an experienced Software Development Engineer with a passion for innovation and a desire to shape the future of the real estate industry? If so, join the Zillow Group Engineering team and help us empower consumers with unmatched access to information and tools. Our brands - including Zillow, Trulia, and StreetEasy - reach over 200 million monthly users, and we're looking for a talented individual to help us create the next generation of real estate technology. We believe that creativity, collaboration, and innovation are the keys to success. We actively encourage our teams to learn about the business and share their ideas. We're dedicated to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace that aligns with our core values.

We leverage technology best suited for each use case and our environment:

  • React, Typescript and GraphQL to power our web applications.
  • Python, Java, Typescript, Node, and GO for our APIs and Backend services.
  • A range of persistence strategies including relational and non-relational databases.

About The Role

As a Software Development Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate with teams and individuals across the company on a variety of products.
  • Work with modern frontend and backend technologies at scale.
  • Learn from experienced engineers through mentorship and career development programs.
  • Ship code that directly impacts our customers as they dream, shop, and connect with professionals throughout their home-shopping journey.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $128,600.00 - $205,400.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

Wondering if we're the right fit for you? You'll excel here if you are passionate about designing and developing engaging products and features and you are:

  • Ready to learn new technologies, improve your skills, and advance your career!
  • A software development engineer with 3-5 years of experience with modern front-end and back-end development technologies like HTML, CSS, ES6, React, Typescript, Java, Python, GO, and Node
  • Here at Zillow we value the experience and perspective of candidates with non-traditional backgrounds. We encourage you to apply if you have transferable skills or related experiences.
  • Knowledgeable of the software development lifecycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control, testing, and operations.
  • Preferred experience with Microservices/APIs and Cloud: AWS, REST, GraphQL, GCP
  • Enthusiastic about working in collaborative team environments to find creative solutions for challenging engineering problems.
