Position Summary

The Freight Broker is responsible for facilitating transportation services between shippers and carriers. They should be able to build a carrier network for existing and potential new business. The right candidate will have experience in Freight Brokerage.

Position Responsibilities:

• Cross-train for backup of other logistics positions
• Negotiate with carriers to meet margin requirements and ensure maximum profitability
• Job duties may need to be performed outside of business hours when the need arises.
• Manage account relationships as the primary point of contact for day-to-day needs, including ongoing communications and coordination of customers needs.
• Track shipments for timely delivery utilizing the truck check process and resolve issues
• Develop, manage and contract a network of carriers to ensure adequate capacity for assigned markets.
• Develop solid relationships with customers by providing transportation services
• Find carriers to transport loads and communicate load details based on client specifications

Essential Skills and Experience:

Education

• Bachelors Degree in a related field Business, Transportation, Logistics preferred.

• Knowledge of equipment (trucks, trailers, etc.)

Experience

• 2 to 5 years of non-asset freight brokerage operations.
