The Capitol Forum is looking for an experienced editor to work as a freelancer at least three days a week, and perhaps more, depending on your availability. We’re flexible about where you’re located, but you must be able to work with an editorial team on the East Coast. You’ll be expected to work with correspondents as they produce articles on relevant antitrust and consumer protection issues. You must have a strong understanding of grammar and AP style. The right candidate will have experience in both line editing and more substantial revisions. As we often work collaboratively, you’ll be expected to provide your input when appropriate. This is an exciting opportunity to shape our coverage.

POSITION AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Capitol Forum is looking for an inquisitive, driven editor to join our growing team.
To succeed in this position, you will need to:
- Enjoy working with journalists who have a range of backgrounds and levels of experience
- Be proficient at editing complex stories on tight deadlines
- Produce clear, concise, and useful written material
A working knowledge of antitrust is a plus but not necessary to do well in this role.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Creativity: Likes to brainstorm original ideas and solutions, possesses intellectual curiosity
- Professional demeanor: Takes pride in creating a polished product and displays a high level of attention to detail
- Writing style: Clear and succinct
- Oral communication skills: Comfortable interacting and building relationships with various stakeholders, including the leadership team, staff, sources, and subscribers
- Interests: Exhibits a passion for journalism and demonstrable interest in the intersection of business and the law, financial services, and/or consumer protection
- Time Management: Ability to write quickly and manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Degree: Bachelors/Masters
- Experience: 5-10 years
- Team Player: Ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues
