Job Description

The primary functions of a food service/utility worker are receiving, delivery, transportation, storage and cleaning of food carts, special functions, clean and dirty trays, pots and pans, and serviceware.

  • May be cross-trained and utilized in other nutrition areas
  • Empties trash as well as maintaining posted cleaning schedules
  • Performs other duties as requested
  • Responsible to keep the floors clean and dry
  • Conducts many different duties such as but not limited to tray line, storeroom, and cold preparation areas.
  • Reports defective or malfunctioning equipment immediately to department management Adheres to food service regulations by wearing clean uniforms, gloves and hat/hairnets while working with food and food equipment Is able to follow verbal or written instructions.
  • Is able to stand for 4 hours continuously, up to 8 hours per day and remain on feet for entire shift.
  • Is able to manipulate small objects with close eye-hand and/or arm coordination for entire shift. Is able to perform motor skills such as grasping, finger manipulation, bending, reaching out, twisting, turning, reaching up and wrist turning continuously.
  • Is able to properly lift objects weighing 20 pounds or less, 35 pounds or less occasionally and 50 pounds or less rarely.
  • Is able to push or pull objects with moderate effort frequently and maximum effort occasionally.

Ability to read and communicate in the English language.

High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

Previous food service experience is not required, but is preferred. Interpersonal communication skills are required.
