Job Summary:*
The primary focus of this position is to notify the local area fire department and, if possible, attempt to control and/or extinguish the fire, should a fire begin to develop or occur. Workers assigned as Fire Patrol Watch are the first line of defense in protecting other workers and property from harm during construction work where risk of ignition is possible. This work is on various construction and maintenance projects throughout San Diego and surrounding counties.

Example of Duties:*

  • Be aware of fire hazards on the jobsite while work is performed by contractors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • In the event of fire, notify hot work operator, extinguish it immediately, notify Team Lead
  • Maintain the conditions and requirements stated on the Safety / Fire plan.
  • Maintain a clean work area during and at the end of shift.
  • Daily, Weekly, and other reporting as required for internal and external purpose.
  • Stop operations if you find any hazardous condition.
  • Maintain the conditions and requirements stated on the Hot work, and other permits.
  • Keep flammable materials from ignition sources.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:*

  • Be mindful of customers and public service.
  • Be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Exercise good judgment in potentially dangerous situations
  • Be able to think quickly and critically.

Experience/Education:*

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant industry experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Licenses/Certifications:*

  • Firefighter II
  • I-100, Introduction to the Incident Command System
  • OSHA 10/30 hour
  • QFF Qualified Firefighter
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license, Class C, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company’s insurance carrier.
  • S-130, Wildland Firefighting
  • S-190, Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior
  • L-180 (1/06+), Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service
  • CPR with AED
  • S-131, Firefighter Type 1 Training
  • Firefighter I
  • RT-130, Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher
  • IS-700a, National Incident Management System, An Introduction

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 per hour
