Job Description
About Harry’s

Harry’s Inc. started in 2013 with a specific goal: disrupt the shaving industry by creating an innovative, everyday product at a fair price. Since then, Harry’s has expanded to Canada and Europe, developed relationships with retailers such as Target and Walmart, expanded our grooming brand into a personal care powerhouse, launched two new brands including Flamingo and Cat Person, and made our first brand acquisition with Lumē.

The key to our success? Our amazing people. From chemists, mechanical engineers, CX associates, to creative directors, sourcing managers, and logistics specialists, the Harry’s team is composed of some of the most brilliant, diverse, and humble people you’ll ever meet.

Our brands answer unmet consumer needs, but our company is a place of inclusion and innovation that attracts some of the brightest minds across industries, geographies, and backgrounds. Whether we have a team of 5 or 500, our core values and our startup mentality remain; we value continuous improvement and learning, teamwork and collaboration, creative problem solving, and open and direct dialogue and feedback. Come for the coffee and free products, stay for the amazing, passionate culture.

About The Team

The Global Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team at Harry’s is a part of Global Finance and is responsible for analyzing, presenting, and forecasting the financial and business performance of the company. The team plays a critical role in enabling senior management to make fast, data-driven strategic decisions across our multi-brand and global brand portfolio.

About The Role

We are looking for a high-performing analytical and collaborative person to join our Global FP&A team. This position within the finance organization will be a dedicated business partner to our Lume and Mando brands (the Lume Segment). This includes supporting our company-wide quarterly forecasting cycles for these brands, participating in our long-term-planning processes, and helping to own the Lume Segment departmental budgets. This position affords significant opportunity to impact finance processes and strategy for the fastest growing brands within Harry’s portfolio.

What You Will Accomplish

  • Analyze P&L performance at the Lume segment level
  • Support the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes by providing visibility into growth, profitability, and liquidity within the Lume Segment
  • Own budgeting and quarterly re-forecasting for Lume cost centers and provide financial guidance and insight to our functional leaders to dissect spend and track back to forecast
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Support the FP&A lead in the production of presentations for internal and external stakeholders including the Lume and Harry’s BOD, Lume executive management, Finance & Strategy teams, investors, and lenders
  • Evaluate a range of potential strategic and operational cases for impact on our Lume Segment financials, for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Support deep dives and initiatives across the P&L (revenue, product and distribution costs, margin and opex)
  • Strategic Cross-Functional Initiatives and Ad Hoc Projects
  • Own preparation of monthly budget vs. actual analysis related to operating expenses for Lume support functions
  • Own the preparation of and drive continuous improvement in our monthly financial results reporting and analysis to provide senior leadership with insights on variances, trends, and potential risks & opportunities
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting
  • Maintain and quantify risks and opportunities in business performance and conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis
  • Support the transition from Lume’s existing excel-based models to a new financial planning system and become a power user of the new application.

This should describe you

  • Demonstrated proficiency in synthesizing data and presenting conclusions and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Strong working knowledge of financial statements, and has advanced skills modeling them in Excel - familiar with indexes, conditional list, arrays, pivots, charts, lookups, and macros
  • 2-3+ years of total work experience in FP&A or sell side equity research; CPG or other consumer-facing vertical is a plus
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, accounting or mathematics preferred
  • Prior experience with financial planning or ERP systems (e.g. SAP, TM1, Hyperion, Adaptive, Anaplan, etc.), and a strong aptitude and interest in learning and understanding those data flows to structure and distill the reporting of that data is a plus
  • Great at building trust and gaining support across the organization
  • Able to balance the big picture with the details, and can take initiative in the absence of perfect information
  • Sense of humor -- we take our work seriously and ourselves un-seriously
  • Fully embraces working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and is not hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Direct, honest, and supportive in communications and takes ownership of the accuracy, reliability and relevance of your work
  • Nuanced communicator with fantastic presentation skills who can independently own and drive projects
  • Passionate about consumer businesses and motivated to learn all aspects of a high-growth brand

Here’s Who You’ll Work With

  • Work directly with Sr. Managers and leaders within the Lume Segment and within Harry’s Finance
  • Work daily with the members of the FP&A, Accounting, and Operations teams but with frequent interaction with all Lume Segment departments and functions
  • Report to the Senior Manager of Commercial Financial Planning & Analysis – Lume but work within highly collaborative FP&A and Finance teams
  • Significant direct exposure to the Lume senior leadership team and Harry’s Finance Leadership

Lume is a 5-year-old fast growing ecommerce and retail deodorant and personal care brand that’s transforming the way that humans do hygiene. We joined forces with Harry’s, another disruptive brand with great people and infrastructure, to accelerate our growth. We are a team of self-starters that roll up our sleeves and get it done. Our style is collaborative and very fast-paced so an adaptive personality is a must.

Harry’s is operating as a hybrid-first environment - for us, that means that we ask folks to come into our beautiful, 88,000 square foot SoHo office a minimum of 2 days per week, with flexibility to choose exactly which days work best for you. What will you get out of that? Bagels on Wednesdays and lunch on Thursdays, and fully stocked kitchens with snacks, coffee, and drinks everyday. Can’t forget the free products and the opportunity to have some meetings without Zoom (remember what 2019 was like?)
