Job Description
Join us at Phase Four as we design, build and deliver the next generation of in-space propulsion systems to the world. We've created the world's first commercially-available electrode-less propulsion system, giving satellite operators wholly new performance capabilities to move their systems anywhere within the cis-lunar environment. We are a growing team with growing sales and require the financial acumen to match.


Job Summary


The financial controller will lead the company's finance department and report directly to the company's CEO. As our company grows, we need to establish and implement more stringent cost accounting systems and earned value management systems, among other financial controls. Additionally, the financial controller will prepare weekly and monthly financial statements (both for internal management as well as to meet external compliance/investor reporting); gather and generate data for analysis of improved profitability; and prepare annual budget, forecasted revenues, and work in process and billings.


Core Responsibilities:


  • Develop and maintain a close relationship with the Company's banks.
  • Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Maximize return and limits risk on cash by minimizing bank balances and making investments.
  • Manage the company's third-party advisory, tax and assurance provider.
  • Establish, implement and train the workforce on more stringent financial policies.
  • Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Maximize return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
  • Prepare budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
  • Support the procurement department.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance business administration, and/or math
  • Minimum 6+ years' experience in accounting/finance (startup experience preferred but not required). Candidates with longer experience will be favored.
  • Experience with setting up financial control systems
  • Master's or other advanced degree is preferred
  • Candidates with higher levels of financial reporting requirements and experience will be favored.
