NinjaTrader is seeking an experienced Controller to manage and continuously improve all aspects of the company's accounting and reporting activities, with an eye towards global growth. The role will be a key member of the Finance leadership team, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, and will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations, an efficient month-end close process, leading and driving the annual audit, and driving a culture of continuous improvement. A successful candidate will have strong technical accounting experience and knowledge of accounting standards, should be self-motivated, hands-on, and act as a proactive business partner and demonstrate the leadership capacity to assume increasing responsibility in finance management.


In this role, you will:


  • Lead the Company's cash management function, partner cross functionally with relevant business teams to drive the Company's cash flow reporting forecast.
  • Drive efficiency, optimization, and automation of business processes and develop and document accounting policies to standardize processes and strengthen internal controls.
  • Work with the CFO to manage and ensure compliance with all local, state, federal and statutory reporting requirements, and tax filings, along with other necessary compliance activities.
  • Partner with our external auditor to deliver the year-end financial statement audit(s), facilitating a timely and successful audit(s).
  • Perform technical accounting research and analysis for significant accounting policies, such as revenue recognition and capitalization/expense analysis, as well as for potential mergers/acquisitions, including purchase price allocations, goodwill, and intangible assets.
  • Lead and mentor the Company's accounting and finance staff. Lead by example and share knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm across the team.
  • Responsible for leading all day-to-day financial operations, recommending staffing requirements (number, levels, skills, and compensation), hiring, training, and replacing as required.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated close procedures and ensure the timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy of information used to prepare internal financial reporting to management.
  • Serve as the Company's technical accounting expert to ensure US GAAP and IFRS compliance, including the preparation of internal memos and coordination of review with external auditors.
  • Support finance integration projects – including leading the accounting and reporting aspects of the integration of new acquisitions.
  • Ownership of accounting and reporting aspects of the ERP system, including GL structure and administration, as well as related system and reporting improvements.


Key Job Requirements


  • Strong technical accounting experience, including ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 350, ASC 718, ASC 850
  • Experience driving transformation and efficiencies in controls and accounting systems
  • Extensive experience with ERP environment, including the use of consolidation and external reporting tools. Prior ERP implementation experience a plus
  • Experience in establishing new legal entities and developing tax efficient structures
  • Experience building processes that will scale with anticipated business growth
  • CPA certification required
  • 8+ years of accounting experience, including 5+ years of public accounting experience
  • Previous experience as a Controller in financial services preferred; FCM or IB experience a plus
