JOB SUMMARY


The field service technician is primarily engaged in performing field installation, repairs, training. troubleshooting, exceptional customer service, and other diversified

This position is for an advanced level technician and will require international travel.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Trouble shoot and repair or overhaul drilling equipment to include traction motor alignments, main bearing end play verifications, and back lash and gearing verifications.
  • Assist in trouble shooting using multi meters, amp probes, meggers and scopes.
  • Follows policies and procedures. Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time. Maintain and complete documentation including detailed Service and Expense Reports in a professional and timely manner.
  • Advanced understanding of Hydraulic and Electrical equipment, functions and testing.
  • Measure and record technical data as tasks are completed, inspect documentation prior to job closure.
  • Work overtime as required to meet customer drilling schedules and project deadlines.
  • Comply with and participate in company safety, reporting, and quality programs.
  • Perform installation of Company manufactured drilling equipment to include, Top Drive and components, Powered Catwalk and components, Hydraulic Wrench and components. Electrical systems integration, and troubleshooting of complete Top Drive, Catwalk and Hydraulic Wrench systems, as well as supervise and train less experienced technicians.
  • Provide equipment parts descriptions and parts numbers to Customer and Part Sales Department.
  • Schedule and monitor workflow for continuing daily progress.
  • Visit drilling rigs operating within the Technician’s geographic regions and converse with Customer Representatives.
  • Possess all skills and requirements of a Level 3 Technician on Top Drive, Power Catwalks, Hydraulic Wrench and capable of troubleshooting with assistance on other equipment.
  • Capable of reading and understanding equipment schematics and drawings.
  • Promote a safe and quality environment in which to work.
  • Perform repairs using torque wrenches and measuring tools.
  • Attend all Canrig required scheduled training classes and responsible for maintaining certifications current.
  • Provide shop technical experience and techniques to other areas of the company as needed.
  • Other duties maybe assigned.
  • Inspect all equipment used and perform preventative maintenance checks and service and notify Supervisors of required repairs.
  • Extensive travel to customer locations (land and offshore), with possible international assignments.
  • Responsible for and maintain company issued vehicles and tools. Be knowledgeable and skillful in the use of these tools.
  • Assist higher level Technicians, as well as work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Remain alert to all opportunities to install additional systems on new rigs and to upgrade, or add-on new equipment.

Education and/or Experience – High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and trade/technical school diploma or 2 years related experience in any one of the following our vocations: Mechanical, Electrical, Drilling Systems or Electronics.

Language Skills – Must be fluent in English, and possess the following abilities: to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, to write simple correspondence, to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information

skillfully, develops alternative solutions, works well in a problem-solving situation.

Mathematical skills – Possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Possess the ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage.

Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills – General knowledge of word processing software and email messaging, and an all-around general knowledge of computers operations.

  • Associates Degree or advanced training
  • Advanced training in Microsoft Office
  • Basic knowledge of Oil & Gas industry
