: Export Operations Manager


Position Overview:

The Export Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the export logistics operations within a company. They play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods across international borders, complying with regulations, and delivering exceptional customer service. This position requires strong knowledge of export processes, international trade regulations, and supply chain management.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Export Operations Management: Oversee and manage the end-to-end export logistics operations, including coordinating with internal departments and external partners to ensure timely and accurate shipment of goods. Ensure compliance with export regulations, documentation requirements, and customs procedures.


2. International Trade Compliance: Stay updated with international trade regulations, export controls, and customs requirements. Ensure the company's export activities comply with applicable laws and regulations, including export licenses, trade sanctions, embargoes, and restricted party screenings.


3. Carrier and Vendor Management: Collaborate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and other service providers to secure competitive rates, efficient transportation, and reliable services. Evaluate and select vendors based on their capabilities, track record, and compliance with quality standards.


4. Documentation and Record Keeping: Manage the preparation, verification, and accuracy of export documents, such as commercial invoices, packing lists, shipping instructions, customs declarations, and export licenses. Maintain proper records and archives in compliance with legal and audit requirements.


5. Freight Negotiation and Cost Management: Negotiate freight rates, contracts, and terms with carriers and service providers to optimize costs while ensuring service levels and delivery timelines are met. Monitor and control logistics expenses, including freight, customs duties, insurance, and other related costs.


6. Supply Chain Coordination: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as sales, procurement, production, and customer service teams, to ensure accurate demand forecasting, order processing, and inventory management. Coordinate with suppliers and production facilities to ensure timely availability of goods for export.


7. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks and challenges in the export logistics process, such as transportation delays, customs issues, port congestion, or political instability. Develop contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure smooth operations.


8. Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of export logistics operations. Monitor performance metrics, analyze trends, and generate reports to identify areas for improvement and support decision-making.


Qualifications and Skills:

- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, international trade, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., Certified International Trade Professional) are a plus.

- Proven experience in export logistics management, preferably within a global trading or manufacturing company.

- Strong knowledge of export processes, international trade regulations, customs procedures, and INCO terms.

- Familiarity with export control regulations, sanctions, and restricted party screenings.

- Experience in negotiating freight rates, managing contracts, and working with carriers and service providers.

- Proficiency in export documentation requirements, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations.

- Familiarity with trade compliance software, export management systems, and customs automation tools.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

- Proficiency in using logistics software and systems, such as transportation management systems (TMS) and customs clearance platforms.
