A Day in the Life
The Expeditor I is responsible for the material flow in the manufacturing area assigned. Responsible for the integrity of the manufacturing policies and procedures including but not limited to: quantity and quality of materials, tools and supplies in the manufacturing area and/ or RIP. Performs cycle counts activity and inventory reconciliation according with the Inventory Control Program. Performs various manufacturing duties and maintains an expected level of attendance, attitude, and teamwork
Maintains schedules for material requirements and availability for the manufacture of industrial and commercial products to support production control. Compiles records concerning quantity, cost, and type of material received, shipped, in stock or inventory, and/or in production. Expedites flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules. Assists in determining possible and actual shortages. May initiate action to correct these deficiencies. Uses knowledge of production, procurement, and engineering departments to alert proper authorities regarding potential problems and appropriate remedial action. Estimates and logs production rate and time expenditures and may be required to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates. May be responsible for production support engineering with respect to analysis of customer returns; and optimizing device production relative to cost constrain.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Generates progress reports on schedule status and keeps records of completed orders.
- Reviews master production schedule to determine possible and actual shortages and alerts proper authorities of potential problems.
- Expedites, routes, and dispatches material and parts in accordance with production schedules and commitments.
- Reports on completion dates, material changes or substitutions, shortages, and schedule modifications.
- Takes appropriate action to expedite materials such as order damaged material repaired or in-house material transportation.
