Position Summary
The Exercise Physiologist is responsible for performing day-to-day implementation and follow-up case management for patients in the Cardiac
Rehabilitation continuum. This involves an inpatient case load covered independently, with team support as needed to provide an individualized
rehabilitation program meeting the personal and family needs of patients. Position is responsible for outpatient classes. Position requires a general
understanding of cardiovascular disease as well as knowledge and abilities in exercise prescription, exercise physiology, behavior change, risk
factor assessment and management, cardiovascular emergency procedures, nutrition, and adult education.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Excellent communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with team members required. Computer skills
preferred
EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology or related field required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Hospital Cardiology or Rehabilitation
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Certification or application for, or experience equivalent to those specified for a Certified Exercise Physiologist or
Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist from ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine). Experience in exercise program planning, supervision
and counseling with cardiac rehab patients (direct experience or internship). 2-5 years direct experience in Phase I, II, or III Cardiac Rehab
preferred.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: BLS.
REQUIRED COURSE(S) TRAINING: ACLS if required by facility
