Chase Auto Private Label Captive Finance

Chase Auto is a leading provider of auto financing with a portfolio of more than $80 billion in assets and relationships with 75% of U.S. franchised automotive dealers. The business is part of the JPMorgan Chase franchise and serves auto dealers, consumers, and vehicle manufacturers. It offers a range of products and services to meet the financial needs of its clients from retail lending, captive financing, and floorplan products to cash management, private banking, and payment processing.

The Chase Auto Private Label Captive Finance business has more than 20 years in the captive finance business and is the largest bank-owned private label captive finance provider in the U.S. We serve as the captive finance partner to seven domestic and global auto manufacturers: Subaru, Jaguar Land Rover, Maserati, Aston Martin, McLaren, and EV partners Rivian and Fisker.

We are seeking a talented Executive Director to build strategic auto financing models in support of super luxury (Aston Martin and McLaren) and electric vehicle (Rivian and Fisker) clients and consumers. Key responsibilities include day to day management of the business and the client relationships and developing future program enhancements.

In this multi-faceted role, you will partner with the client and internal Chase Auto groups to optimize the end-to-end car buying process, the customer experience, and the competitive landscape for this evolving business. Through this process, you will identify opportunities to develop and execute the operating business processes and strengthen our business results through new programs, marketing, pricing, and credit and risk management strategies

This role will deliver day to day management of the business, developing strategies and capabilities to support business goals and objectives. This role will have responsibility for the P&L of select captive finance companies, and will manage a team to support the strategy and execution of programming and initiatives.

This position requires strong stakeholder management at all levels of Chase Auto and throughout the broader JPMorgan Chase organization to develop and lead strategic opportunities to support the needs of the manufacturers and the captive finance companies. You will identify opportunities to develop new strategic initiatives and programs through marketing, pricing, credit and risk management strategies. This will require strong partnership with the Strategic Business Management team within Private Label Captive Finance as well as Auto support teams including Finance, Marketing, Data & Analytics, Product, Strategy, Corporate Development, Legal, Controls, Risk, and Compliance to develop and deploy new strategies and capabilities and programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities to bring together the assets of the firm to develop and execute strategies that support our OEM partners’ growth objectives
  • Lead the program development for private label partnerships
    • Work closely with partners/clients to develop the operating model and support processes to enable a successful auto finance experience
    • Prioritize, negotiate, and remove blockers to orchestrate successful launch and/or optimization cycle
    • Manage development of reporting and success criteria in partnership with the client
    • Coordinate with a large cross functional team on the project
    • Manage the day to day execution of the program ensuring performance goals are met
  • Manage communication and deployment with internal and external stakeholders
  • Regularly and systematically use data to uncover opportunities, enhance product performance, and decision-making.

  • Partner with Vehicle Remarketing to ensure maximum value is retained from our off-lease portfolio
  • Oversee the go to market pricing strategy in collaboration with the client, understanding the competitive landscape to develop recommendations to optimize sales volume and returns
  • Lead the governance and approval process for new strategies and initiatives, including coordination with cross-function partners including Product, Risk, Legal, Marketing, and Finance
  • Work closely with partners/clients to develop the operating model and support processes to enable a successful auto finance experience
  • Manage client requests including communicating results, problem resolution and key accomplishments coordinating a regular cadence of business reviews and collaborative discussions
  • Manage P&L; ensure that the portfolios perform within the established risk appetite of the business
  • Manage development of reporting and success criteria in partnership with the client
  • Manage the day to day execution of the program ensuring performance goals are met
  • Track industry movements for product features, pricing, customer experience, etc.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate product requirements, user acceptance testing, operational and implementation impact analysis
  • Partner with Credit Executive and Risk to monitor business results and program effectiveness
  • Prioritize, negotiate, and remove blockers to orchestrate successful launch and/or optimization cycle
  • Monitor the external environment for important competitive developments and potential partnership opportunities
  • Manage overall control agenda for the business including tracking and managing deliverables
  • Manage the end-to-end development of these capabilities including design, project planning, and working with stakeholders to execute to final implementation

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Intellectual curiosity and propensity to learn new subjects quickly
  • 10+ years of proven general management and leadership experience; experience in private label or co-brand partnership roles is ideal
  • Exceptional quantitative and qualitative finance and analytical skills
  • Open, collaborative, team-oriented operating style
  • Exceptional people leadership, relationship development and negotiating skills; ability to earn respect and trust among internal and external business partners and team members
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience required; MBA or graduate degree strongly preferred
  • A high level of personal initiative, setting and achieving challenging goals, and demonstrating entrepreneurial leadership
  • Thought leader with a disruptive, growth mindset and the ability to proactively identify opportunities to innovate and improve the business
  • Must have experience managing teams and developing individual team members
  • Proven experience in collaborating across teams and lines of business within large organizations, including influencing stakeholders and working with diverse teams
  • Strong proficiency with executive-level presentation materials and briefings, and the ability to simplify complex subject matter into digestible executive communications
  • Extensive partner negotiation skills
  • Proven ability promoting a strong control environment by adhering to risk/control expectations, procedures, and processes
  • Sense of urgency with disposition to execute
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to leverage data and anecdotal feedback to structure complex problems and make decisions
