Job Description


The Center for Observational and Real-world Evidence (CORE) within our Research & Development division provides global scientific leadership in effectiveness and value evidence research. The mission of CORE is to lead value evidence strategy and research to inform healthcare decisions and enable broad access for patients.


The goal of CORE is to generate value evidence to inform healthcare decisions across the globe.


We are currently seeking an Executive Director, CORE Regional LATAM to lead a team of health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) scientists to execute CORE activities in the region covering Latin American countries. This leader will integrate their deep understanding of the region’s stakeholder evidentiary requirements with our strategic and product priorities to develop value evidence strategies to enable product and patient access in Latin American countries.


The LATAM CORE lead will work with regional and country cross functional partners (market access, medical affairs, policy, commercial etc.) to align on portfolio & product priorities for the region and countries, that will then guide the prioritization of value evidence generation activities in the region. The lead will collaborate closely across CORE and other partners in Research Labs and Human Health organizations at headquarters to provide perspective on value evidence needs for the Latin American countries and will ensure that the regional value evidence plans are aligned with the global value and implementation strategies. The lead will be responsible for ensuring that the regional CORE team seamlessly executes the value evidence plan and disseminates and communicates the findings to internal and external audiences.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Partner with countries in the region to identify value evidence needs and execute on prioritized projects to enable payer and patient access.
  • Ensure that the execution of value evidence projects adheres to our company's research standards and executed in compliance with internal processes.
  • Lead a team through coaching, inspiring and developing health economics and outcomes research talent in the region.
  • Set standards of excellence for the team by demonstrating professional expertise, strong work ethic, integrity, and professional behavior.
  • Build, maintain and advance a collaborative, communicative, strategic and functionally skilled team in support of the above duties.
  • Identify data sources in the region that will enable robust RWE generation through collaborative research.
  • Direct team of scientists to leverage best practices, evidence generation plans and local work to optimize the value and affordability evidence for the countries in this region.
  • Manage project-related budget for the CORE LATAM regional team.
  • Collaborate with external thought leaders and research partners including epidemiologists, health economists, RWE experts to enable robust RWE generation in the region.
  • Lead the development of strategic scientific value evidence planning for the region and align on resources required to execute, working in collaboration with regional and global colleagues in market access, policy and medical affairs.
  • Further expand the internal knowledge and capacity in the region to use evolving methodologies in observational research, using various training approaches and best practice sharing.
  • Contribute scientifically to policy discussions related to value and access as needed.
  • Ensure scientifically and methodologically rigorous approaches are used for observational studies addressing medical, economic and outcomes research questions in the region.
  • Guide health economic and outcomes research in the LATAM region, including but not limited to development of evidence plans, collaborating with medical affairs and local OR teams in local data generation, lead execution of regional studies, support for economic model adaptations for use in HTA submissions or other access negotiations, training/building local capabilities in the development of Local Data Generation (LDG) Studies.
  • Share insights and learnings from the countries’ value evidence needs and experiences back to the headquarters-based teams as portfolio/product strategies evolve.
  • Align LATAM Regional CORE activities (studies, models, publications, advice) to the priorities of the key markets in the region and with global Value and Implementation strategies.
  • Drive value evidence strategy development and execution of studies at the regional level for multiple external stakeholders including payers, providers, policymakers, and patients.


Education Minimum Requirement


  • Advanced Degree (M.D., Ph.D. or Pharm.D.) in health economics, data sciences, outcomes research, public health management or related field


Required Experience And Skills


  • Deep HEOR competency; abreast of trends and new information in the therapeutic/translational science area
  • The role can be based anywhere in LATAM or US
  • A minimum of 7 years biotech/pharmaceutical HEOR experience, including market access experience
  • Experience leading projects and excellence in interacting with cross-functional teams
  • Experience working with countries in LATAM
  • Ability to prioritize and align outcomes research to overall company priorities for the region
  • Experience in the adaptation of global health economic models as resources for regional/local HEOR teams to support local Health Technology Assessment submissions and other Market Access activities. The model types include but are not limited to epidemiology models, early and late cost-effectiveness analyses, public health, budget impact analyses, and integrated field force tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

Expected Salary Range


$235,280.00 - $370,400.00
