POSITION SUMMARY: The Skagit Valley Family YMCA is seeking an Executive Director to serve as a hands-on administrator of our programs and site managers in licensed childcare (early learning and school-age programs), summer camps and preschool. This role will lead our team of childcare professionals, and oversee the operations, assuring that the Y delivers exceptional and culturally competent care, and develops innovative learning environments which may include dual-language immersive classrooms throughout our communities. The Y is seeking a candidate who approaches all aspects of their work with an equity lens. This position will ensure that our programs are accessible to all families in our community and that our childcare staff reflects the vibrant racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity of the Skagit Valley. This is more than a traditional Executive Director role and may best be described as an Entrepreneurial Educational/Childcare Leader, and will serve as part of the Y’s Executive Team! ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Executive Leadership
- Proactively creates an engaged team of professionals and supports their ongoing professional development.
- Executes division level goals and strategic plan that may include expanding service and creating new learning opportunities that contribute positively to the success of the Skagit Valley Family YMCA.
- Acts as an advocate for the Y’s youth development programs by providing written reports and in-person presentations as needed to the YMCA Board and community members.
- Provide reflective supervision to managers and their teams through regular on-site visits by delivering consistent communication, collaboration, and coaching.
Program Management
- Creates community partnerships by networking to optimize program offerings as well as recruiting strategies and other program needs.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations by conducting regular reviews of the licensing requirements with site managers, identifying barriers and solutions to compliance
- Regular review of program curriculum use
- Leveraging support provided by that program
- Supporting ongoing behavior management tools
- Maximize participation the Early Achievers program to increase ratings by:

- Leveraging support provided by that program
Financial Management
- Responsible for development and oversight of all operating budgets.
- Supports the capital campaign to develop the Camp Anderson program at Lake 16.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s degree or an Associate of Arts degree in a relevant field, with experience and with a series of approved early learning and school age credits as specified in the Washington state guidelines for determining related degree and approved credits.
- The ability, desire and initiative to foster, develop and promote collaboration.
- Must obtain a TB Test by Mantoux method, HIV/AIDS/BBP awareness, and Food Handler’s Permit prior to start.
- A demonstrated willingness to continue professional growth in education, childcare and leadership acumen.
- Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from the many social, cultural and economic segments of Skagit County.
- Relevant experience, training and demonstrated skills in each area that they will be managing or supervising. Supervisory abilities that promote effective staff skills, growth professional development and performance within the Childcare department of the Skagit Y.
- First Aid, Pediatric CPR/AED, Child Abuse and Mandatory Reporting training, and a DCYF portable background clearance within 30 days of hire.
- Strong communication, and collaboration skills, must be willing and able to utilize various forms of communication.
- Experience in leading multisite teams with proven skills building positive and collaborative team culture. Position supports approximately 5 direct reports and 85 indirect reports.
- Knowledge of Washington State early learning development and licensing requirements.
- Three to five years of successful full-time leadership experience in a relevant field.
