The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for carrying out its programs, policies, and day-to-day activities working directly for a dedicated, engaged, and involved board of directors.
As the main representative for GCWRP, the ED represents the organization at community activities to raise issue awareness. They develop collaborative partnerships with community groups, funders, elected officials, and other non-profits to help achieve the goals of the organization. As the primary employee for GCWRP, the ED is responsible for hiring and managing all contract staff and interns for the implementation of programs, providing for social media outreach, supporting fundraising events, and conducting educational outreach for the organization.
The Executive Director is also responsible for fund development, including researching opportunities, writing grant proposals, directing special appeals, and soliciting major donors. They coordinate with the Board Treasurer to prepare a comprehensive budget, provide financial reports to the Board, and oversee all required financial documentation throughout the year.
-Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities
Experience in non-profit management and fund development
Experience implementing an organizational mission and programs based on diversity, equality, inclusion, and justice values.
Experience in community organizing and event coordination
Experience coordinating volunteers for education and public outreach programs
Either a master’s degree or similar knowledge of Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, Conservation, Ecology, or Public Policy
-Employment Expectations
Full-time, 40-hours per work week based in Flagstaff, Arizona
Option to telecommute from home or the GCWRP office when not at offsite events
Includes evening and weekend engagements
Occasional camping trips and out-of-town travel for events or meetings in the Southwest
Must have a reliable vehicle for traveling
