Description: Are you a collaborative operations leader with a passion for hospitality and people? Consider joining and leading the Boise Centre team, Idaho's premier event venue! Our current ED Pat Rice is retiring after 2+ decades of legendary leadership and service. Reports to: The District Board of Directors 2023 scope: 210+ employees; 86,000 total square feet; 6 direct reports; 480 event days; 250 events Location: downtown Boise Idaho, one of the Northwest's vibrant hotspots is an urban city on a compact scale Ideal person: strong hospitality and operations knowledge with emphasis on conventions; strategic ability; ability to network and build relationships; influential; fantastic communication skills; exceptional integrity. JOB SUMMARY Provide leadership and oversee all Boise Centre operations and strategic performance. Under the direction of The Greater Boise Auditorium District (The District) Board of Directors, the Executive Director ensures the policy and governance directives of The District Board are achieved. Top 5 Responsibilities:
  • Develops objectives to enhance strategic plans and increase the economic impact of Boise Centre and The District
  • Oversee and guide operations and strategic performance of Boise Centre
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to learn new software
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels
  • Aligns process, resource planning and company goals with overall strategy
  • Active membership and participation in industry related professional organizations
  • Advanced communication skills and ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, internal staff, clients, customers and general public
  • Participates in department, company, and industry related professional organizations and training Operations
  • Involves light physical activity, performing non-strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature
  • Empowers Boise Centre staff to seek training designed to increase effectiveness and professionalism
  • Ensure values and principles of good governance and financial best practices are maintained at all levels of the organization. Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local codes and regulations Leadership
  • Advanced leadership, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Oversees standard operating procedures for all operational functions of the facility
  • Experienced with human resource management principles and procedures Required Skills/Abilities
  • Builds an effective team of leaders by providing guidance and coaching to management teams
  • Reviews and ensures accurate reporting, including monthly management reports, cash flow statements, and annual operating and capital budgets for Boise Centre and The District Requirements:
  • Conceptualizes, provides insight and directs significant organizational changes and future development
  • Reviews and provides guidance on event contracting Financial Acumen
  • Experienced with public administration activities, including working knowledge of policy development, public sector budgeting, and financial administration
  • Provides guidance to ensure governance and direction of the Boise Centre
  • Frequently involves standing and walking
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Administration, or related field
  • Forge and maintain relationships with community leaders, partners and external authorities
  • Interacts professionally and effectively with others (high IQ/EQ)
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling and twisting, reaching and use of ladders, stools and stairs, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds
  • Provides timely and thorough customer service to internal and external customers
  • Constantly involves sitting, using hands and fingers, talking and hearing
  • Establish, lead and ensure departmental policies, goals and objectives/deliverables are met
  • Proficient record keeping, spreadsheet, and word processing skills
  • Ability to: write reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals; solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exist; read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumferences and volume; work in a high-stress, fast paced, highvolume work environment while prioritizing tasks and being flexible with changes in work loads Physical Requirements
  • Present a neat, clean, professional appearance by following established grooming/uniform standards
  • 5+ years leadership experience in venue management of a large multi-purpose facility
