Summary


The System Executive Director of Organizational Culture is a leader of culture strategy, teammate engagement, and unified activation of organizational values and priorities. They are also thereby responsible for creating and maintaining a positive workplace culture and fostering a sense of community and belonging among teammates. The role involves being a culture ambassador and collaborator across key strategy, human resources, and communications groups as needed, and specifically developing and implementing initiatives that promote engagement, inclusion and well-being. This position will work closely with the Chief Culture and Engagement Officer and other senior leaders to ensure that the organization's culture aligns with its values and strategic objectives.


Responsibilities


Strategic:


Listens and immerses self at both leadership and front-line level to understand culture and attitudes among teammates. Develops and executes a comprehensive culture strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and values. Collaborates with key stakeholders across the organization to promote a positive culture and foster a sense of community among teammates. This may include both formal and informal channels of influence, such as strategy, communications, clinical, academic, or other committees/task forces/etc. Cultivates an emotional connection among teammates and the organization. In close connectivity to system strategy and communications efforts, develops and executes initiatives that promote teammate engagement, inclusion and well-being. Bring an “outside-in” perspective to the culture strategy and initiatives internally desired for the organization. Maintain a consistent focus on where health care and other industries are going in the area of culture and people activation, bringing thought leadership and recommendations to the work.


Operational


Develops and maintains metrics to measure the effectiveness of culture initiatives and report on results to senior leadership. Stays up-to-date on industry best practices and emerging trends related to workplace culture and community and make recommendations for improvement. Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures related to culture, including compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to the workplace. Reinforce consistency and alignment across the system through shared experiences and support for all leaders and teammates. This may also include:


  • Ensuring managers and supervisors have the tools necessary to engage their teams in productive conversations around our values and culture
  • Being the ‘first call’ for managers and supervisors who are looking to improve the culture within their team or area of influence
  • Proactively collecting stories and examples that represent the best of our culture, to then be shared in a variety of forums
  • Participate in the development and implementation of system strategy and local entity strategy activation, as appropriate and relevant.


Qualifications


Education Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree required.


Professional Experience Requirements


  • Requires ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience including seven (7) years of management experience.

  • Communicates effectively in moments of stress to external stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management and change management skills for designing and implementing high priority.
  • Identifies problem areas and skill gaps proactively and addresses them appropriately.
  • Drives and develops innovative ideas and solutions with great significance to the organization’s future.
  • Understands all overarching System operations and policies that guide the organization.
  • Ability to recognize and articulate risks quickly with little context of the big picture.
  • System initiatives in a complex environment.
