Join us at Texas Sterling Construction as we are currently seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our dynamic team! As an Excavator Operator, you will be responsible for excavating and grading ditches, slopes, and roadways to ensure the successful completion of our projects. We are looking for someone who has a passion for the industry and takes pride in their work to join us in our mission to provide exceptional construction services to our clients. Operators with utilities and piping experience are highly encouraged to apply, as we need to add an operator to our pipe crew.
Here are the responsibilities of the Excavator Operator position:
- Move levers and depress pedals to maneuver equipment and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
- Move levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
- Fasten attachments to the tractor with clevis or wedge pin hitches.
- Use the shovel to dig trenches and holes of specified length, depth, and width, remove loosened material and put in piles or transport trucks.
- Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachments.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
- Drive bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade following markings on grade stakes or hand signals.
- Feel lever and listen for stalling action of the engine to estimate depth of cut.
- Move hand and foot levers to control the hydraulic shovel.
Qualifications for the Excavator Operator position:
- Ability to pass a pre-employment operators test
- At least two years of experience operating excavators
- Valid driver's license
- Experience in Heavy Civil projects is highly preferred
- Possession of OSHA 10 certificate is preferred, but not required.
