Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Packages bags/rolls and keeps accurate counts in computer system
  • Helps the team give breaks
  • Alerts Setup Techs to questions or concerns by utilizing white stack light
  • Assembles boxes
  • Performs quality control checks on product and labels at correct frequency.
  • Stacks finished product
  • Help pick up scrap around his/her lines, including changeover rolls.
  • Cutting scrap off cores.
  • Labels product
  • Throws away all labels from previous job
  • Keeps work area clean and clutter free; including tables, scales and floors
  • Weighs boxes and enters into the computer system
  • Using light system, inform changeover technicians when a message on the computer says you are approaching the end of the job (Blue); adjustments are needed (Amber), and when product is not salvageable (Red)
  • Works a 12 hour day, 4 days one week, 3 days the next- must work every other weekend
  • Never allow any product to be placed on a pallet that does not have a Q.C sticker
  • Train new packer/inspectors to standard works and complete training documents
  • Web towers and downstream equipment including bag machines, winders, and separators on all lines
  • Make small adjustments to extruders, bag machines and winder equipment on all lines
  • Set up all winders to facilitate effective and safe order changes on all lines
  • Able to clear stacking wheel wrap ups safely

Secondary Responsibilities include:

  • Spraying and wiping machines clean
  • Double checking labels and product quality
  • Participate in continuous improvement and 5S programs
  • Following and assisting enforcement of safety and quality policies/ procedures
  • Coach/Teach Packer – Inspector I with proper packing techniques
  • Set up all winders to facilitate effective and safe order changes on all lines
  • Web towers and downstream equipment including bag machines, winders, and separators on all lines
  • Make small adjustments to extruders, bag machines and winder equipment on all lines
  • Able to clear stacking wheel wrap ups safely

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to work independently; think for themselves
  • Ability to read a ruler to 1/8”
  • No prior experience necessary; training will be provided

  • Ability to handle & resolve problems
  • Good, common sense
  • Must be punctual; at line on time
  • No fear of heights
  • Knowledge of all product configuration and quality check procedures
  • Proven track record of good attendance


Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand and communicate
  • Ability to see and hear
  • Occasionally required to stretch, bend, climb or balance
  • Often required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently required to lift 30 to 60 pounds
  • Occasionally climb towers up to 45 feet high
