Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

The position will manage the Estimation department.The manager will be responsible for the accuracy and timing of estimating potential work for the company. The manager will report the status on all pending jobs in the department and provide proper feedback to the team.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be technically sound in steel fabrication for multiple processes including structural steel fitting and welding, cutting; (Saw, Plasma, Laser, and Shear), Rolling, Forming, Drill, Punch, Milling, and Lathe.
  • Strong understanding of business math. Strong analytical skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Bi-lingual fluent in English and Spanish a plus.
  • Expert level in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Strong customer/supplier relationship skills. Strong problem solving, verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, proven ability to deliver results, strong ability to multi-task and prioritize while under constraints from customers.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Estimation in machining and steel fabrication.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

The Estimating Manager will report to the Director of Operations

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Estimating Manager will be expected to but not limited to:

  • Will oversee the Estimation team when it comes to preparing time and cost estimates based on customer supplied drawings and specifications.Estimates involve cutting, forming, machining, fabrication, inspection, coating, and other functions of a turn-key fabrication facility.

·Will guide the team of Estimators when they gather details and compile data to estimate all production costs per specifications. Considers raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, labor and transportation for estimations.

  • Can combine pricing with appropriate mark-ups depending on competition and market conditions and able to train the Estimation team to properly quote jobs.
  • Recommend 'make/buy' decisions and offer input regarding vendor performance.

·Helps determine necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints.

·Assist with all incoming data from customers and works closely with the Estimating team to ensure priorities are addressed promptly.

·Assist communication with the sales team and project management team as quotes are developed, changed and eventually won.

·Perform administrative and clerical tasks including managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures.

·Respond to client inquiries about company capabilities and resources.

·Participate in developing project update and bid package estimate documents.

·Interface with Estimators and assist with proposal preparation.

·Create and distribute Annual Pre-Qualification Packets.

·Request and secure bid bonds.

·Track and maintain Bid/Budget/Build log weekly.

·Develop/maintain library to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates.

·Maintain files of working documents for back-up to estimating figures.

·Provide input and feedback on issues relevant to client programs, work in progress and marketing initiatives.

·Assist in the monitoring of conceptual estimates with actual cost data.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Expectations:

  • Have experience forecasting jobs in fabrication/manufacturing setting.
  • Must be able to interpret blue print drawings, structural drawings and specifications with the ability to quote prices on the spot, accurately.
