In this compelling leadership position, you will lead efforts on the strategic planning and execution for Fannie Mae or business units within the organization. In this role, you will coordinate and engage in cross-functional strategic execution, as well as engage project teams and stakeholders to advance business Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives.


We have one opening for this position and it can be worked on a Hybrid basis from our Washington, DC office or as a Remote US based employee.

Responsibilities


The ESG Strategy Director role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities


  • Direct the process to identify resources to support strategic goals and new initiatives, as well as ensure the implementation of new resources.
  • Drive the implementation of strategic goals and vision for business units and/or the enterprise and assist in developing goals.
  • Direct day-to-day operations including financial analysis and modeling, forecasting, talent strategy and management, governance, and negotiation.
  • Direct the development or implementation of new processes and/or updating existing processes.
  • Maintain strong awareness of global ESG trends, studies, and frameworks and coordinate with internal and external partners who are experts in environmental, social and governance to identify and adapt best practices to meet corporate needs.
  • Oversee ESG materiality assessments on regular cadence, including stakeholder engagement, third party management, and managing regulatory oversight.
  • Oversee ESG strategy development, strategic plan formulation, and execution of business objectives.
  • Lead and collaborate with your team and internal partners on unit's production, activities, and efforts.
  • Direct enterprise ESG impact measurement and engagement strategy, including analyzing enterprise impact and performance of key ESG initiatives for executive and Board visibility.


Qualifications


THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM


Minimum Required Experiences


  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Prior people management experience and experience effectively leading and coaching teams
  • Demonstrated experience in ESG, sustainability or strategy roles in a large corporation or consultancy supporting large corporations
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence process development and successfully engage stakeholders
  • 8 years related experience


Desired Experiences


  • 10+ years related experience
  • Deep understanding of ESG regulatory landscape as well as expertise in ESG assessment and measurement frameworks, goal-setting processes, and market developments
  • Demonstrated previous work in developing and delivering strategies which add value to a commercial organization and meet stakeholder needs
  • Significant project management experience across a large enterprise
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred
  • Strategic and analytical mindset, with strong business acumen
  • Demonstrated understanding of the housing finance industry and/or the finance industry
