The Department of Transportation, Highway Maintenance Unit/Roadway Crew has ONE (1) urgent vacancy.

• This position REQUIRES a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A, with Endorsement N (Tank vehicles 1,000 gallons or more capacity), and no restrictions relating to codes E (manual transmission), I (class C vehicle over 18,000 pounds GVWR), J (vehicles not equipped with automatic or synchromesh transmission), L (air brakes), O (class A tractor-trailer combination), and Z (full air brakes) at the time of application.

Duties Summary

Operates two or more types of motorized equipment such as heavy trucks, heavy rollers, loaders and light tractors as a major work assignment; may perform manual work tasks in connection with general construction and maintenance work; may operate graders and heavy tractors as an incidental work assignment; and performs other related duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

General Experience: ONE (1) YEAR of work experience involving the operation of at least TWO (2) of the motorized equipment representative of the class equipment representative operator III (e.g. heavy motorized equipment such as trucks having a factory rated capacity of 5 tons or over, rollers of 5 tons or over, loaders, and tractors such as D-4, TD-6 and TD-9 with bulldozer blade attachments), or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL): AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION, applicants must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - CLASS A, with ENDORSEMENT N (Tank vehicles 1,000 gallons or more capacity), and NO restrictions relating to codes

• L (air brakes),
• Z (full air brakes).
• I (class C vehicle over 18,000 pounds GVWR),
• J (vehicles not equipped with automatic or synchromesh transmission),
• O (class A tractor-trailer combination), and
• E (manual transmission),

A valid out-of-state CDL may also be accepted. If you are selected for this position, you must transfer your out-of-state CDL to a Hawaii-issued CDL prior to your employment start date and within 30 days of arriving in Hawaii.
