Job Description

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The primary purpose of this position is to perform supervisory technical work with a staff of inspection personnel within the Wilkes-Barre District and to be responsible for managing the construction inspection of materials and workmanship on projects, such as: water pollution abatement, strip mine reclamation, subsidence control, underground mine and refuse pile fires, shaft backfilling and capping, stream channel reconstruction, and drilling to assure compliance with the contract documents.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Full-time employment.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of construction inspection experience on heavy construction projects such as dams, flood control projects, mine reclamation projects, treatment plants, hazardous waste projects, airports, highways or utility installations, and an Associate Degree in Building Construction Technology, Survey Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Two years as an Environmental Projects Construction Inspector; or
  • Four years of construction inspection experience on heavy construction projects such as dams, flood control projects, mine reclamation projects, treatment plants, hazardous waste projects, airports, highways or utility installations; or
Necessary Special Requirement:
  • Possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license.
