We are seeking an Environmental Planner located anywhere within the U.S. with a preference in or near the Rockies and Midwest Regions (location is flexible) and will be responsible for working with project managers and teams to prepare permitting documents, and assisting with environmental siting, planning, and permitting for renewable energy, natural gas, and electric projects. We are seeking a team member who is detail oriented and can take initiative on various tasks, act as a deputy project manager or task lead, and over time successfully lead tasks associated with renewable, natural gas, and electric energy projects which includes assisting with developing proposals and cost estimates, executing project tasks.
Successful candidates will have a strong technical background in siting, permitting, and evaluating environmental impacts for energy projects, which may include solar, onshore/offshore wind, energy storage, natural gas, and electric transmission. Our ideal candidate will collaborate with project teams on preparing and task managing environmental documentation for energy projects. This will include the preparation of environmental documents and impact analyses, technical reports, and permit applications. The candidate will be expected to conduct literature research and data collection for environmental investigations and documentation, as well as assist with public involvement, agency consultation, and planning. The candidate will be given opportunities to develop project management skills while working with project managers and technical experts.
Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities include preparing permitting documents and acting as a task lead or deputy project manager.
- This role will prepare documents for energy facility siting/routing, permitting, environmental field surveys, and resource analyses.
- Candidates will work within a team to prepare conditional use, land use, right-of-way, and other local jurisdictional permitting efforts.
- Candidates will represent clients before federal, state, and local regulatory and land management agencies, boards, planning commissions, and councils.
Requirements:
- Looking for candidates with 1 to 5 years of applicable work experience.
- Candidates must be able to handle multiple tasks, coordinate effectively with others, and work independently within a team.
- Candidates must be able to research and interpret federal, state, and local regulations on a project-specific basis to assess project permitting feasibility and requirements, and interface with regulatory agencies.
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to utilize critical thinking, a flexible approach to problem solving, excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), planning, and organizational skills and attention to details.
- A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations is required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience.
Salary Range: $50,000 - $75,000 yr.
Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
