Environmental Engineer Jobs

Basic Job Functions:

The environmental engineer will be responsible for leading the safety, sustainability, and environmental compliance at the division. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: maintaining compliance with all environmental programs (air, water, waste, radiation) including permitting and reporting. This role also includes managing an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, managing the Radiation Safety program, overseeing contractors, conducting environmental training, tracking on-site waste generation, waste disposal, recycling, and energy use. This individual will also maintain compliance with site SPCC plan, perform disposal/recycling facility audits, work with and build relationships with Environmental Regulators, complete EPCRA/Form R regulatory reports, interpret environmental regulations, and plan community outreach and education activities. This position will require some travel.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of environmental regulations (air, water, hazardous waste)
• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering discipline, or equivalent years of applicable experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with implementation and maintenance of an ISO14001 or equivalent EMS.
• Solid understanding of air pollution control equipment, water and wastewater systems and continuous emission monitoring equipment including design, operation and maintenance.
• Industrial, consulting, or regulatory experience in environmental engineering, environmental compliance, environmental management, or some combination thereof.
