Engineer - Wafer Sustaining - Entry Level

About our group:

Seagate Recording Head Operation is searching for an outstanding Wafer Sustaining Engineer to work at the Bloomington, MN campus. You will be scheduled on D Shift. These hours are subject to change with or without notice at the sole discretion of Seagate.

In this entry level position, you will have a terrific opportunity to train and gain exposure to all engineering disciplines, as well as Physics and Chemistry, utilized in our Wafer Manufacturing Facility, including: Photolithography, Vacuum Deposition/Etch, Plating, Integration and Metrology (Measurement Systems) . You will continually enhance your problem solving and data analysis skill sets as you work to resolve daily product and factory issues. With the rapid pace of our technology development, you will rarely face the same problem twice!

About the role - you will:

• Identifying process irregularities and equipment failure issues to proactively engage Equipment Engineering, Manufacturing Operations and Technicians of potential problems before they occur.
• Develop an understanding of Manufacturing of Recording heads with a focus on HAMR Technology
• Apply understanding and expertise in photolithography, vacuum etch/deposition, plating, and/or machine process integration to Metrology applications and concepts
• Working with Process Technicians and other Engineers in resolving process engineering problems and improving manufacturing efficiencies, such as scrap reduction.
• Use knowledge and understanding of Metrology tools and applications to support the manufacturing of recording head devices
• Advancing skills in Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Root Cause Analysis tools comparison of tools.
• Working on projects that improve the manufacturing/wafer build efficiency and related process capabilities of a global leading company.
• Learning from Senior Engineers and subject matter experts on best practices and creative means in solving complex problems.
• Evaluating, troubleshooting and the disposition of suspect material.
• Resolving R&D WIP holds and improving R&D cycle times by various means such as: disposition WIP, developing action plans to resolve MDA issues and/or to improve throughput through bottlenecked operations.
• Learn and understand Metrology tools such as: ATI, AFM, EDR, Ellipsometer, FIB, HRI, SEM, XRF

About you:

• Position may require limited/occasional travel.

• Basic computer skills and presentation skills.
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering and 0+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
