  • Develop cost estimates for biological resource tasks for a range of projects.
  • Work concurrently on several projects each at different phases.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in conducting field surveys for wildlife both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to conduct avian surveys such as raptor nest surveys, point-count surveys, and/or species-specific surveys.
  • Experience in writing technical reports, describing baseline conditions, and analyzing impacts on protected species and their habitat.
  • Experience in identifying avian and plant species.
  • Experience writing proposals and estimating costs.
  • Ability to research and interpret federal, state, and local regulations and potentially occurring species on a project-specific basis to assess project permitting feasibility and requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal and state regulations pertaining to wildlife and plants.
  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently, willingness to work as part of team, and the ability to stay positive and effective during long days in the field.
  • Willing to work in sometimes difficult conditions and often miles from a vehicle. Physical challenges typically encountered may include long off-trail hikes, steep slopes, extreme hot and cold conditions, and biological hazards (animals and plants).
  • Experience with environmental impact analysis related to energy and land management projects; biological resources mitigation, design, and monitoring; and construction monitoring.
  • Safety conscience and continually assess ways to mitigate hazards.
  • Data management and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
