Join our team as an Engineering Design Manager and play a crucial role in delivering successful projects in any portion of EPC projects.


We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager with a strong background in life sciences to join our dynamic team. As an Engineering Area Manager, you will lead a group of talented engineers and designers to develop innovative solutions for life sciences projects. You will be responsible for overseeing the design process within your area, ensuring compliance with industry standards, managing resources effectively, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality designs on schedule.


Responsibilities


  • Set clear objectives, delegate tasks, and monitor progress to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a team of engineers and designers within your assigned area.
  • Engineering Design Management:
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment to drive the team's success.


As directed by the Project Engineering Manager


  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, such as FDA guidelines, ISO standards, and other relevant regulations, throughout the design process.
  • Establish and maintain Fluor quality processes and procedures to ensure the delivery of safe and effective products.
  • Manage the design process, from concept to detail design and construction support, ensuring adherence to life sciences industry regulations and standards.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and proactively implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team in resolving complex design challenges.
  • Conduct design reviews, identify risks, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies to maintain project timelines, budgets and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to set project priorities, manage expectations, and provide regular updates on project status.
  • Utilize your deep understanding of the Engineering Design Process and life sciences principles, such as biotechnology, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare equipment, to drive innovative design solutions.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  • Within your assigned area, develop project plans, allocate resources effectively, and develops/manage project budgets to ensure successful project execution.
  • Lead risk management activities, including risk assessment, risk analysis, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements, emerging technologies, and industry best practices related to life sciences engineering design.
  • Resource and Project Management:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, Construction, Procurement, Contracts, Quality, Project Controls, HSE, HR, IT and CQV, to align design objectives and project requirements.

Basic Job Requirements


  • Understanding of regulatory requirements, including FDA guidelines and ISO standards.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and sixteen (16) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across different teams and levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage small/medium sized projects or an area within a large project and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Strong understanding of BIM/3D design tools and other relevant design tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of life sciences principles and regulations related to biotechnology, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare equipment.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders


Other Job Requirements


This position is designed to be performed at one of the Company’s main offices; however, a remote or hybrid work arrangement may be considered for the preferred candidate.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
  • Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-out
  • Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
  • Advanced knowledge of equipment through all stages of a project from conceptual phase to design development, construction, and commissioning
  • Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting
  • Managing and leading a large project
  • Practical field experience
  • Professional registration and active participation in technical society
  • Semiconductor Experience Preferred


Salary Range


125,000 to 231,500
