Job Title: Electro-mechanical Technician

Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a full-time electro-mechanical technician to work alongside our engineers. ESAero is a growing aerospace company in the San Luis Obispo area and provides various services which include but are not limited to: rapid system development, on-demand niche engineering, hands-on development/testing, and small UAS aerospace system manufacturing.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Participating and supporting flight test events
• Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
• Installing electrical and electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, using soldering equipment and/or hand tools.
• Assembly of production and prototype units
• Reading schematics, diagrams, and drawings to determine methods and sequences of assembly
• Inspecting, testing, and debugging electronic assemblies using test instruments such as oscilloscopes and electronic voltmeters
• Ensuring that work orders are followed and that work order paperwork is completed as the work is performed.
• Follow documented work packets and test procedures.
• Assembling wire harnesses and cable assemblies
• Works with other Technicians and Engineering to correct and improve upon any documents related to the test and assembly process at the required high-quality standard.

Desired Qualifications And Skills

• Must be able to work in a team environment
• High School Diploma
• Familiarity with commercial electronics building practices desired
• Ability to take responsibility for quality of work performed
• 3+ years of relevant experience
• Ability to debug system level electro-mechanical assemblies
• Knowledge and ability to hand solder using proper techniques
• Have a healthy respect for high voltage and high power electronics
• Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision
• Experience with Microsoft OS and MS Office Suite
• Knowledge and ability to use crimp tools
• Be a quick learner with positive attitude towards work.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical blueprints/schematics/drawings.

Desired Qualifications And Skills

• A&P License or past license
• Experience with board level soldering
• Aviation experience
• IPC 620 Certification or experience with IPC-620
• Knowledge of or experience with High Voltage Systems
• Knowledge of or experience with lithium batteries
• J-STD Certification or experience with J-STD

Hiring Range: $22-$36/hour
