This is an optical engineering role and person in this role will need to have both wide-ranging technical skills as well as some in-depth knowledge of optical interferometry. Design work includes analysis of interferometers, optical modelling, tolerance analysis, optical ray-tracing, and specification of key optical components. The role will require lab experience so to participate in the build and test of prototype interferometers. Data analysis skills that facilitate manufacturing reliability predictions based on prototype performance is a plus.
Engineer interfaces directly with external customers and works on cross-functional team problem solving efforts. Works on projects with long term technical and financial importance to management. Develops and maintains relationships across departments to better execute projects. Works with some direction from supervisor and has ability to be an independent technical contributor.
Responsibilities:- Model and optimize 3D optical systems for optical interferometers
- Interface with opto-mechanical and CAD designers to define tooling and optical mounting based on predicted worst-case optical tolerances
- Interface with customers to determine their needs, to present options in a manner consistent with Keysight business principles, often offering out-of-the-box solutions beneficial to both parties
- Generate lens requirements, coating requirements, and optical system requirements from customer interactions and documents.
- Design feasibility experiments for opto-mechanical sub-systems, at times using simulation tools in support of R&D prototypes and production processes
- Generate optical components specifications and drawings based on higher level specifications and models.
- Provide accurate and detailed requirements documentation for procurement and fabrication of optical components.
