Electrician
Air Guard Maintenance
Spokane, WA

Reporting to the State Maintenance Manager (Air Guard-East), performs journey-level electrical work necessary to support Air National Guard facilities and infrastructures. This is a fully qualified electrician position responsible for independently performing skilled installation, maintenance and repair work on electrical equipment and systems.

This is a civilian position and does not require military service affiliation.

Duties


Responsibilities include:

  • Performs journey-level installation, repair, and sustainment of electrical systems and components.
  • Performs skilled work in multiple trades as assigned to support Air National Guard facilities.
  • Provides electrical expertise to enhance the Recurring Work Program, assist construction and repair project planning, and skill development of maintenance staff.

Qualifications


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an electrician as attested by certified hours reported to Washington Department of Labor and Industries; OR
  • Full journey status as an electrician in a union; OR
  • Four years applicable work experience.
Vocational training may substitute for work experience on a year for year basis.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

License:
  • General Electrical License (EL-01) issued by the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
Knowledge of:
  • Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in building and maintenance work.
  • Electrical, HVAC, structural, plumbing, and mechanical systems/components.
  • Occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building trades.
Skills and Abilities to:
  • Read plans and blueprints.
  • Effectively layout and perform all types of building maintenance, construction installation, alteration and repairs.
  • Consult with supervisors and make recommendations about repair/remodeling work needed.
  • Perform journey-level work in all types of building maintenance work.

Supplemental Information


Compensation: Wage/salary depends on qualifications or rules of promotion.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Background Investigation: Must successfully complete the appropriate background checks required for employment and to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC) required to access DoD computer systems. Must be willing to sign releases of information and shall not have access to any investigative materials and files. The processing of background checks can take up to six months post-employment. Failure to successfully pass a background check may be cause for termination.

Union Shop Provision: This position is covered by a union shop provision - Washington Public Employees Association.

Driver's License:
  • Must meet requirements of the REAL ID Act. This is required for base access and will be required upon hire.
  • Valid to drive in the State of Washington.
Military Facility: Willingness to work on a Military Controlled Access Installation.
Camp Murray uses the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) for entry to the installation. Must meet access requirements / background check which can be found in the Camp Murray Access Requirements Policy (Unified Policy No. 18-01). This includes possession of an Enhanced Driver’s License, or other REAL ID Compliant Identification.

Work Hours : Normal working hours are Tuesday through Friday 6:00am - 4:30pm; four ten-hour shifts.

Emergency Assignment: Upon activation of the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) or Joint Field Office (JFO), incumbent may be required to work in an alternate location with rotating shifts, including weekends and evenings, in a highly stressful and fast-paced environment.

Travel: Occasional statewide travel may be required up to 5%.
