Job Description

Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children is seeking a dedicated and skilled electrician to work closely with the Facilities department. This individual will be responsible for performing all necessary activities to properly design, inspect, repair, maintain, install, and remove electrical, TV cabling, alarm, and CCTV system. The selected candidate will work closely with hospital employees and contractors to ensure the operation, safety, and regulatory compliance of all systems.

Please Note:

This is a full-time, 40 hour position. The schedule for this position is 7:00 AM-3:30 PM. Monday through Friday. The days off will be Saturday and Sunday.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • Develops and maintains a knowledge of, complies with, enforces, and trains other hospital employees as needed/assigned on appropriate hospital electrical policies, procedures, practices, and directives.
  • Operates, maintains, and secures the operation of all departmental/ hospital equipment.
  • Performs all other duties related to the success completion of requests, orders, job duties and directives approved by the hospital's administration or their designee.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials-determines the need for, prices, orders, stores, inventories, distributes and documents the use of stock and special-order parts and materials.
  • Performs all duties necessary for the planning, design, installation, modification, repair, and removal of electrical, TV cabling, alarm and CCTV systems.
  • Maintains a safe work environment.
  • Ensure hospital compliance with all related codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Works with employees, contractors, consultants, vendors, and others designated by the administration of the hospital and/or arc necessary to successfully perform the duties described within this document.
  • Attends all assigned meetings, training, and other gatherings/events.
  • Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with others including but not limited to other staff members and employees who arc requesting maintenance services; visitors, patients, and their families; and other maintenance personnel.

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret all codes, regulations and standards related to the planning, design, installation, modification, repair, and removal of electrical, TV cabling, alarm and CCTV related systems.
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Ability to follow and issue written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to climb and work from ladders and scaffolds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of hospital systems and components as they relate to contracts and agreements
  • Knowledge of hospital related codes, regulations, policies, procedures, and directives
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as electrical plans, schematics, drawings, etc.

Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC) located in Canton, MA is a Joint Commission Accredited, 90+ bed pediatric hospital predominately serving children and young adults (ages 8–22) operated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The mission of PRHC is to provide medical, rehabilitative, educational, recreational, habilitative, transitional, and complementary alternative medical services to children and young adults with multiple disabilities, assisting them to achieve their optimal level of independence in all aspects of life. PRHC offers coordinated medical care and therapies in a hospital-based environment, as well as, K-12 schooling, located on the grounds. Educational Services are provided by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In addition, PRHC offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities such as swimming, horseback riding, adaptive sports and many opportunities for socialization for disabled children and young adults.

Special Requirements: Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Journeyman or Master Electrician's License issued by the State Examiners of Electricians.*
  • NOTE: License requirement regarding the Department of Public Works: Neither general street lighting nor traffic light work performed by the Department of Public Works or its agents or employees on public ways is subject to the licensing requirements of M.G.L. Chap. 141. 1976 - 1977 Op AG, No. 26.

Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
