Job Description

Endeavour’s GigaGrid product group has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer. In this position you will work directly with the research and development team and be responsible end-to-end hardware lifecycle development for GigaGrid’s product suite. We are looking for an innovator and leader who will help shape the cutting-edge, modular hardware building blocks that shape the distributed, edge-compute driven clean energy applications within GigaGrid. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be directly developing clean tech products with cutting edge-power electronics that support distributed solar and battery storage applications and next generation of grid monitoring sensors and EV charging equipment.

The Electrical Engineer needs to be agile, professional, and comfortable in a rapidly changing environment. The right person is trustworthy with confidential information, highly organized, self-motivated, has excellent communication skills, can think strategically, and works equally as well independently as with a team. GigaGrid values efficiency and strives to maintain smooth operations.

For GigaGrid and for all the product groups within the Endeavour Ecosystem, we are highly selective about the people we bring on board because our ecosystem depends on it. Endeavour’s unique business model and ability to cut through red tape means change and progress happens quickly. We must be able to trust one another to be honest, communicative, strategic, reliable, and driven. We seek ultra-creatives and superstar performers with a sense of humility and a hunger to make a positive impact in the world. We offer flexibility and endless growth opportunities to those who can harness their skills and talents and identify how and where to use them to add value. Growth in the ecosystem means expanding outward, not upward, because there is no corporate ladder to climb. Your path is in your hands, and Endeavour’s team is here to support our companies, innovators, and change-makers. At the heart of the ecosystem is a diverse group of bright, passionate, dedicated people, working together to make a real difference. Are you ready to join the journey?

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work and support cross-functional teams of hardware, firmware, software and mechanical engineers throughout the engineering and system integration efforts.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews before releases at various stages.
  • Design, validate and debug complex hardware prototypes during new product introduction sprints.
  • Execute full electrical hardware design lifecycle activities for the GigaGrid product suite, from concept to deployment, leading the activities around engineering analysis, prototyping, test, validation and documentation and eventual full production release.
  • Travel for 5-10% of the time.
  • Take ownership of designs, and manage individual tasks, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Develop new cutting-edge sensors, electronic modules that support GigaGrid‘s and Endeavour’s evolving needs.
  • Help validate firmware/embedded software for different hardware products.
  • Perform type testing, batch testing, and QA/QC checks on mass produced electronic hardware at different stages of the projects.

Skills & Requirements

Education / Experience

  • Experience with component selection, such as passives, connectors, cables, etc.
  • Analog and digital circuit design – Op-Amps, MOSFETs, switching regulators, gate drivers, data converters (ADCs/DACs) etc.
  • Power electronics, switching power converters, topologies, devices, power dissipation, thermal management.
  • PCB technologies, such as rigid, hybrid, HDI, etc.
  • Multi-layer Printed circuit board (PCB) layout design.
  • Strong understanding of –
  • 2-5 years of experience in design, fabrication and testing of electrical/electronic hardware for embedded systems, power electronics, networking equipment, sensors, automotive electronics, robotics, or equivalent.
  • Ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary, cross functional teams.
  • Hands-on experience with EE lab equipment like O’scopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzer, signal generators, power supplies, load banks etc.
  • Circuit design proficiency –
  • Schematic capture and eCAD using Eagle, Cadence, OrCAD, Altium or equivalent.
  • DFM techniques, best practices for manufacturability, PCB stack ups, BOM management, production runs etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in hardware architecture, board design, board bring-up and prototype and new product experience.
  • Minimum B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent. Master’s or other advanced degrees preferred.
  • Best practices for signal integrity, high speed interconnects, communication links (e.g. – SPI, I2C, UART) EMI/EMC etc.

Specific Skills / Abilities

  • Hands on experience with Short-range and other IoT networking protocols like Bluetooth/BLE, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, LoRa, ISM-band RF, etc.
  • Working knowledge of high voltage and high-power systems is a plus.
  • Experience with modelling and simulation tools like Simulink, SPICE, etc.
  • Experience with power electronics (converters & inverters) is a plus.
  • Experience with Lithium-ion batteries, battery management systems etc. is a plus.

About GigaGrid

The GigaGrid product team is developing a plug-and-play framework for monitoring and controlling the power grid. The GigaGrid framework consists of low-cost edge-computing nodes that can interface with geo-dispersed assets and work autonomously. The smart nodes can work in bandwidth constrained environments, using flexible communication pathways to the GigaGrid backend. The GigaGrid product lines revolve around solutions for grid monitoring, control and automation that can help to optimize grid operations as the adoption of distributed energy resources, such as solar, batteries, and electric vehicles, grows dramatically. The GigaGrid product team consists of engineers who are seeking creative, motivated team members to help them take innovative ideas and turn them into tangible solutions.

About Endeavour

Endeavour is taking on global challenges, and to create the appropriate global solutions is not easy. Our teams work extremely hard because we believe in Endeavour’s mission: to guarantee clean water and renewable energy to everyone, everywhere by decentralizing infrastructure, developing new technologies, and deploying energy, water, and waste treatment solutions that are more profitable than those that currently exist. Endeavour companies are made up of passionate change-makers who want to leave the world better than the way we found it. We pride ourselves on hiring talented, highly motivated people because that’s what our mission requires. There is a strong sense of camaraderie between good-natured people who bring their A-game to work each day to make a difference.
