As a Electrical Engineer I for JPL's Autonomous Systems Division's Flight Electronics Section which crafted the electronics for the latest Mars rover and helicopter (Perseverance & Ingenuity). You will be joining the Avionics Hardware System Architecture and Engineering Group.

Tasks may include but not limited to:

  • Avionics subsystems Requirements for Command and Data Handling and High Speed Compute Elements modules, Motor Controllers, etc.
  • Avionics System Architectures including but not limited to Command and Data Handling and High Speed Compute Elements modules, Motor Controllers
  • Contribute to system risk management and system change processes at JPL
  • Electronics Interfaces such as 1553, CAN, SpaceWire, LVDS, USB, RS422/485
  • Support the development and maintenance of:
    • Avionics System Architectures including but not limited to Command and Data Handling and High Speed Compute Elements modules, Motor Controllers
    • Avionics subsystems Requirements for Command and Data Handling and High Speed Compute Elements modules, Motor Controllers, etc.
    • Electronics Interfaces such as 1553, CAN, SpaceWire, LVDS, USB, RS422/485
  • Analyze and model the design for Command and Data Handling and High Speed Compute Elements modules, Motor Controllers, etc. using MATLAB or other analytical tools
  • Close collaboration with Cognizant Engineers, Design Engineers and I&T Engineers throughout the product design, I&T and delivery lifecycle
  • Electronics systems validation and verification

Qualifications:

  • General knowledge of applicable industry and/or academic practices and standards in related to Electrical and Systems Engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Recently completed coursework providing an understanding and application of standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related.
  • Participation in student/volunteer organizations.
  • Prior internship/volunteer experience in related disciplines.
  • Bachelor's with at least one year related work experience or internships, Master's, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering major.

The hiring range displayed below is specifically for those who will work in or reside in the location listed. In extending an offer, Jet Propulsion Laboratory considers factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s job related skills, experience, knowledge, and relevant education/training. Hiring range for this job may be adjusted based on primary work location outside of Pasadena, California. This adjusted range will be provided to candidates by the Recruiter when applicable.
