Ekg Technician (Eeg Comp)

Operates EKG-EEG apparatus and auxiliary equipment. Maintains and cleans equipment.

Job Responsibility

• Cleans equipment and apparatus of contaminants.
• Prepares patient for examination.
• Recognizes and reports any equipment problems to management.
• Ensures patient is screened according to protocol, and assures consent for the procedure has been obtained, when necessary.
• Performs various exams according to the standards and procedures delineated by the department.
• Explains procedure in layman terms to relieve patient of anxiety.
• Maintains equipment in efficient operating condition.
• Monitors patient condition during examination.Recognizes and reports any motor abnormalities (i.e fainting, discoloration, contrast reactions, etc.) to Radiologist.
• Completes appropriate tracking steps for each examination.
• Labels film for identification and maintains required records.
• Adjusts immobilization and supportive devices for patients, as needed.
• Performs related duties, as required.
• Adjusts equipment, operates controls to obtain correct documentation in accordance with technical and safety standards.
• Maintains a clean and well stocked room.
• Ensures tests are properly marked with correct date and proper patient identification numbers.Enters the exam onto the daily log sheet.
• Positions patient for test according to standard operating procedures.

Job Qualification

• Graduation from an approved EKG-EEG Technology Program OR Appropriate clinical orientation and training.
• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
