The School of Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver seeks an innovative and collaborative temporary faculty member who will co-teach teacher education licensure courses. This temporary faculty position will coach all teacher candidates through Academic Communities to enhance course learning.

Responsibilities

Teaching

  • Co-Teach 9 semester hours of day and/or evening courses in undergraduate education courses in educational technology and universal design for learning/inclusive learning practices within the MSU Denver teacher preparation programs.
  • Collaboratively plan and facilitate weekly Academic Community learning sessions connected to the co-taught courses.
  • Attend meetings as need to ensure grant objectives are being met.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues in the program on program and course development and evaluation.

Advising Support & Supervision of Teacher Candidates

  • Collaboratively facilitate Academic Communities with Co-teaching faculty.
  • Academic/Socio-emotional monitoring of progress of students receiving scholarships through office hours.
  • Supervise clinical field experiences and/or student teachers connected to Hawkins grant.
  • Demonstrate the experience and commitment to meet the educational needs of students from diverse student populations including traditional, first generation, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Latinx, adult, military, second career, second chance, concurrent high school/college students, and students with mental health, learning, or physical differences.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or higher in Educational Technology, Special Education or related field
  • Expertise in Educational Technology
  • Expertise in Universal Design for Learning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Canvas or similar online course management system
  • Completed Doctorate Degree Educational Technology, Special Education, or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and participate as part of a collective team culture
  • Experience teaching or mentoring teacher candidates
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about and incorporate Trauma Informed & Equity Practices in education
  • Demonstrated experience working with and committed to the educational needs of a linguistically and culturally diverse urban population, including first-generation, adult, working and other identity representations
  • Minimum of three years professional teaching experience in school settings
  • Experience facilitating meetings on Teams or similar online collaboration software

Work Hours/Type

This position requires the candidate selected for hire to work in person.

Salary for Announcement

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $56,000 at Lecturer level. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.
