The Department of History in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has an opening for a part-time Lecturer position, to teach History courses in spring 2022. This position will be supervised by the History department chair. The History Department, located in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has 14 rostered faculty, including 10 tenured or tenure-track faculty members. We have approximately 100 undergraduate majors and 35 MA students. We are committed to inclusive excellence in our teaching, mentoring, and programming. Position Emphasis:


This Denver Campus posting is for a lecturer to teach an upper-division course titled ““Immigration and Ethnicity in American History,” which is scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:30 p.m.-4:45 p.m.


The catalog description for “Immigration and Ethnicity in American History” is: Explores the personal and collective experience of immigrants to America. Discusses problems of assimilation, urban and rural experiences, and implications for politics, the economy and social attitudes.


The candidate hired for this position will be eligible for future temporary, non-tenure track positions and will teach no more than two courses per semester. Future appointments will be part-time (less than 50%) and will be made semester-by-semester, depending on the needs of the department and subject to budgetary approval.


Salary and Benefits:


The hiring rate (or budgeted rate) for this position has been established at $1,597 per credit hour (upper-division course).

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications - External

Minimum Qualifications:

M.A. in History from an accredited university.
Experience teaching in-person and/or online courses at the college level as the instructor of record.
Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire

Conditions of Employment:

Must be able to teach in-person at the course’s assigned times.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in History from an accredited university.
Experience teaching online college courses as the instructor of record.
