General Description
The Education Coach will work closely with the Education Manager and the Program Director of Early Learning to train and work with staff at centers to ensure assessments for Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scales (ECERS), Infant/Toddler Environmental Rating Scales (ITERS) and Classroom Assessment and Scoring System (CLASS) – Pre-K, Infant and Toddler are conducted throughout the school year. Additionally, the person in this position will mentor and train teaching staff on an on-going basis to improve teaching strategies that will support Social Emotional Learning and School Readiness goals. The role of the Educational Coach is to build capacity for skills and behaviors focused on goal-setting and achievement for an individual or group.
The Education Coach will work closely with the Education Manager and Program Director of Early Learning to train and work with staff at multiple locations. Should be familiar with classroom assessment like Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scales (ECERS), Infant/Toddler Environmental Rating Scales (ITERS) and Classroom Assessment and Scoring System (CLASS). This person will mentor and train teaching staff on an ongoing basis to improve teaching strategies and social emotional learning.

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
$31 -32.70 per hour
Responsibilities
  • Oversee QRIS implementation and alignment with Quality Improvement Plans (QIP)
  • Work collaboratively with all Early Learning staff toward achieving or exceeding the school readiness goals and any Early Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) and State and Federal regulations at all sites.
  • Have knowledge of Social Emotional Learning and its support for Behavioral strategies
  • Assist, coach, and support teaching staff in understanding, implementing, and documenting the required curricula, e.g., Creative Curriculum, CSEFEL Strategies, CLASS, ECERS, and ITERS Tool to assess and evaluate classrooms.
  • Follow up with all teaching staff at each site to review results and write coaching action plan , if needed. Plan any needed coaching, training or any other follow up necessary because of the findings from assessments.
  • Ensure through coaching and training, that teaching staff at DLL assigned sites are using the English language sufficiently in interacting with and instructing children to assist English-language learners to progress in the acquisition of English and to enable native English speakers to develop more complex language skills.
  • Ensure each classroom’s materials, displays and activities reflect the diversity of the program, city, and state as well as support staff on how to include parents in the curriculum.
Requirements
  • Dual Language is a plus
  • Register with the Early Care & Education Workforce Registry
  • Ability to work with diverse cultural staff.
  • Current CA Driver’s License; current auto insurance and a clean driving record
  • Fingerprinting Clearance (DOJ/FBI and Clearance Child Abuse index
  • Must be fluent in reading and writing English.
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certificate
  • Ability to certified as CLASS reliable – Infant, Toddler and Pre-School aged children.
  • Flexibility and ability to work as a team player required.
