The Hope Street Family Center (HSFC) was established in 1992 as a community program of California Hospital Medical Center. Original program funding was provided by a research and demonstration grant from the federal Head Start Bureau as a national effort to develop more effective ways to support young children and families.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for developing and leading early childhood education and disability services for young children 0-5 years of age within center-based family childcare and home-based programs. The manager also ensures compliance with state and federal guidelines including in relation to special- needs populations. All employees are expected to perform their duties in alignment with the vision and values of the organization. The person doing this job is responsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of customer satisfaction in the most cost-effective manner.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • A minimum of five years of early childhood education experience including three years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Master’s Degree - Master’s degree in child development or a related field.
Licensure:
  • Fire Safety Certification.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • AHA Basic Life Support Certifcation (BLS/CPR).
Special Skills:
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking skills.
Preferred:
  • Working knowledge of the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, or Battelle Developmental Inventory, or other similar assessments.
