Edina Magazine Editor Jobs

The Community Lifestyle Magazine group is looking for an editor for Edina Magazine. Writing is an essential part of every editorial role. This is an incredibly collaborative work environment, so the right candidate will be curious, capable, organized, positive and a respectful team player.

Responsibilities

• Planning, developing, proofing and editing all editorial content for the publication
• Developing story concepts, assigning articles to writers and managing manuscripts to ensure that they are received in a timely manner and produced to the quality standards associated with the magazines
• Assisting with the final layout of the magazines by proofing and correcting preliminary InDesign documents of each layout, cutting or adding copy where needed, and filling in headlines, cutlines, photo captions and pull quotes where needed (InDesign software and computers to be provided by Local.)
• Providing supporting content for the gallery section of the magazine
• Writing articles as needed for the title as needed to fill the lineup
• Providing copy for the cover, contents page, editor’s letter and any other pages as agreed upon by both you and the Local editorial staff
• Appearing at appropriate/selected events in the community as the spokesperson for and representing Edina Magazine
• Performing other duties as needed
• Managing editorial advisory boards for the title, including hosting periodic meetings/email correspondence
• Assisting the art directors in securing contributed photos and providing art ideas to the art directors
• Submitting to the managing creative director and managing editor an editorial lineup with story details for each issue of the magazine on the dates specified in the magazine production schedule
