Job Description

The Door, Window and Millwork Sales representative provides customer service and sales to existing and/or potential customers to enhance and promote Millard Lumber products and services.


Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contact suppliers for availability and costs on special and non-stock products.
  • Confer with customers by telephone, electronically, in person to provide information about our products and/or our services to meet or exceed customers’ expectations. Actively participates and develop new accounts, generate sales quotes, and handle customer inquiries to help service customers and grow sales.
  • Assist with special projects and participates in training sessions to expand current and new product knowledge.
  • Determine charges for services or product. Collect deposits or payments, or arrange billing. Process returns, exchanges, quotes, credits, contracts, purchase/work orders, stock receipts and transfers.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
  • Solicit sales of new or additional services and/or products while informing and recommending Millard Lumber’s products and services. Maintains knowledge of current sales and promotions.
  • Work effectively with others in a team based environment to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems.

Education/Experience

  • Experience at operating both ERP (BisTrack) system and Microsoft office.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required.
  • Experience in customer service and inside sales preferred

Other Requirements

  • Must pass pre-employment screens
  • Retail sales experience preferred.
  • Maintenance of regular attendance, work evenings and required Saturdays
  • Possess a strong willingness to learn Millard Lumber products/services

  • Verbal & Written Communication skills
  • Superior problem- solving abilities along with a can- do attitude
  • Ability to make sound and confident recommendation to customers
  • Ability to develop new business and exceed sales goals.
  • Willing to obtain other training if deemed necessary in performance of responsibilities and continuing education

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Employee must have clear, close vision for reading and computer/scan work. Must be able to safely squat/bend/climb. Will occasionally lift/ push/pull up to 75 lbs., grasp, talk, hear and stand/walk for prolonged periods. Job may require reaching at or above shoulder level and below waist.
  • Work is in a retail environment indoor and outdoor, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
