Job Description

STRONG opportunity for growth and direct advancement into VP/GM role

$165-180k base salary, 20% Bonus, 20% LTIP, fully paid company vehicle, and full relocation provided


Summary/Objective

Responsible for the overall direction of the production of aggregates. This position leads all aspects of aggregate production and personnel, which includes managing all aspects of safety, production, and other support functions with primary responsibility for ensuring effective execution of production performance and growth strategy.


Position Responsibilities

  • Ensures company safety rules and regulations are met through periodic inspections of plant machinery, equipment, personal activities, and working conditions.
  • Directs the selection, training, and development of production personnel - appraises the performance of subordinates and takes/recommends appropriate personnel actions as necessary.
  • Assists with profit plans, CERs, market analyses, and special reports for the approval of the VP/GM.
  • Provides leadership resulting in maximum production, working closely with Sales Manager and Dispatch Manager to exceed customer expectations, ensure product quality and drive maximum profitability.
  • Coordinates environmental issues with the Land and Environmental Department.
  • Maintains operational security.
  • Drives operational and safety performance through continuous improvement initiatives that meet or exceed company and regional goals.
  • Provides direction to Plant Managers to ensure efficiency, quality, service, and cost- effective management of resources.
  • Ensures daily coordination between production, delivery, distribution, and quality control.
  • Implements and reviews ongoing contracts, purchase orders, appropriations, and expenditures requests.
  • Coordinates with VP/GM needed staffing to properly and safely operate the plants.
  • Builds effective teams and develop direct reports for future opportunities
  • Responsible for overseeing month-end inventories.
  • Ensures that all personnel under their supervision comply with Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Cultivates a positive safety culture in assigned operations by championing Guardian Angel and Wing Man principles and philosophy. Builds individual accountability and rewards/recognition into a safety approach.
  • Coordinates these same needs with the Human Resources Department with attention to labor law compliance.
  • Purchases or directs the purchase of supplies and equipment in accordance with company policy- recommends or changes vendors to reduce maintenance costs.
  • Develops an environment of empowerment and teamwork.
  • Directs production activities to ensure strict adherence to cost and quality standards and takes immediate corrective action when deficiencies are noted; achieves production targets as directed.
  • Recommends management development and necessary training programs for all direct reports
  • Develops and nurtures empowerment in all phases of the operation.
  • Responsible for compliance and all administration related to environmental regulations.


Position Requirements

  • Strong organizational and budgeting skills with attention to detail
  • Willingness to prepare for future growth potential within the plant and company
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.E.) in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or other related discipline strongly preferred and/or equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Knowledgeable in MSHA regulations and compliance.
  • Excellent knowledge of aggregate operations and the associated plants and equipment
  • Demonstrated success in managing a large group of employees
  • Computer / PC literate. Experience with MS Office required; must become proficient in JDE, Business Analytics, and other applications; experience with these applications is preferred Sales, Inventory, and Operational Planning (SI&OP) process familiarity a plus
  • Ability to manage an empowered workforce; must be able to lead by example and have good coaching skills and be approachable
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in aggregates, operations preferred
  • Ability to resolve employee performance issues and conflicts.
  • A thorough understanding of quality control processes and specifications regarding aggregates
  • Five (5) years of supervisory or management experience in an aggregate or similar industrial environment
  • Understanding of all components of plant and departmental cost and production
  • High standard of ethics, integrity, and trust; good judgment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, other departments, and vendors.
