Roles & Obligations of a Truck Dispatcher

• Act as a dependable liaison, striking a balance between the health and safety of drivers and the demands of the customer.
• Proactively tracking shipments and alerting brokers for anticipated scheduling delays.
• Maintaining strong relationships with drivers.
• Entering orders into TMS.
• Establishing relationships with customers/brokers.
• Monitor weather conditions at all driver locations, using various software tools, to identify and anticipate potential problems.
• Directly broker freight pricing with agents, and maintain continuous dialogue with your drivers to guarantee prompt agreement on proposed loads.
• Strategically allocate drivers to destinations as per customer needs, optimizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Arrange and oversee load assignments optimally to maintain the company's cost-effectiveness.
• Using freight booking platforms to book freight.

Minimum Requirements:

• Ability to work individually and as a part of a team.
• Ability to professionally communicate with customers, OTR drivers, and dispatchers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel.
• Fundamental knowledge of transportation, routing, and geography in US

Truck Dispatcher Skills & Competencies

• Language skills: You should be fluent in English, and knowing a second language is a plus but not required
• Technical proficiency: You should demonstrate a good command of computer technology, be capable of quickly learning software specific to the company, and be adept at using GPS tracking systems.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and reorganize workload in order to meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
• Team player and can collaborate with other members of our organization;
• Previous experience with automated TMS systems and electronic logbook systems is preferred.
• Communication skills: Your role will involve interacting with drivers, clients, and suppliers, who might not always share the same objectives. This requires exceptional interpersonal skills to navigate and manage these relationships effectively.
